Silversea is building a new hotel in Puerto Williams, Chile. The property will be the southernmost hotel in the world, serve as the new base for Silversea's Antarctica cruises, replacing Punta Arenas. The hotel will be ready for the 2025/26 Antarctica season.
Puerto Williams, a picturesque Chilean town located just six miles south of Ushuaia, Argentina, offers a more intimate and scenic experience compared to its larger neighbor. Nestled amidst breathtaking mountains and deep channels, this sparsely populated frontier town serves as a gateway to the Antarctic wonders.

When Silversea launched its sailings between Puerto Williams and Antarctica in 2021, they described it as an ideal destination for smaller ships, offering a more immersive and natural experience. The town's smaller size and fewer tourists create a more peaceful and authentic atmosphere, allowing visitors to truly appreciate the surrounding beauty.
Silversea operates two types of Antarctica cruises: the classic two-day crossing of the Drake Passage and the shorter fly-cruise option known as the Antarctica Bridge. For the Fly-Cruise program, clients begin their journey in Santiago, Chile, before spending a night in Punta Arenas before embarking on their Antarctic adventure. This itinerary offers a convenient and efficient way to reach Antarctica, while still allowing for some exploration of Chile's southern region.
Whether you choose the classic Drake Passage crossing or the shorter fly-cruise option, Puerto Williams serves as a captivating starting point for your Antarctic adventure. Its stunning natural beauty, peaceful atmosphere, and convenient location make it an ideal choice for travelers seeking a unique and unforgettable experience.
